Mongolian Goat Rodeo

Description

Mongolian Goat Rodeo.

Imagine a horse race where any number of riders race around a course carrying a goat. Now imagine they are fighting over possession of the goat the whole way. Sure points are scored but in the end the player who brags the best wins. Sound fun? If so they you have to play Mongolian Goat Rodeo! .

In Mongolian Goat Rodeo you run a team of riders around a course. Hopefully you’ve got the goat but if you don’t then you’ll ride up next to the rider who does and try to take it away. We call that “tussling”. When you do it you make up an amusing short tale of how you accomplish the steal. Another player decides what you have to roll to succeed so you have to make it fun. A simple roll later and you have the goat or look the fool. .

Mongolian Goat Rodeo is unpredictable because players have a limited number of coins with which they can buy the right to make something unexpected happen. Maybe they want to take another turn immediately. Maybe they fight someone chasing them. In the end though unspent coins are used make plays for more victory points. It’s not automatic but if they succeed a player can brag their way into victory! .

Those who wonder where this game came from should look up Buzkashi, the national sport of Afghanistan. This is real game! Returning vets tell me that my game plays the way Buzkashi looks. Total goat insanity! .
